Because of my love of ballet, a fellow ballet dancer in my class, got me permission to go to the practices of the Jalisco Ballet, a wonderful professional ballet company in Guadalajara. I was permitted to walk all around the studio while they were practicing and/or lounging around.
I managed to catch this photo of Carla, a prima ballerina in the company, in a rare moment of repose as she is normally stretching and exercising every moment she is not actually dancing. There were some other obstructions in the background (more ballet paraphernalia on the floor) that would have taken away from highlighting Carla so I deleted those obstructions in Photoshop.
I do a lot of black and white photography but this needed to be in color, albeit a subdued color.
I have 2 copies of the original which are image wise identical in quality to the original, but are just not archival as they are not printed on photographic paper. That only means they will not last 100 years, but certainly longer than our lifetimes. They are backed (but not pasted) on a foam board and covered in a cellophane for protection. Because they are not archival, I can sell them cheaper than the originals at $700 pesos.
I can also have an original printed on photo paper for $1300 matted, but not framed. That will take a week or two to get depending on how busy the printers and framers are. I get my originals quality printed in Guadalajara.
It could also be printed as a giclée on canvass. I would have to get a quote from a printer as to the cost.
