If I update direct to 20H2, has this problem been corrected so that I can retain the correct video drivers, such as honoring the GPE protection? Or reinstalling the correct drivers at that time which does not allow, but will 20H2 allow it? And is there a way to update direct from to 20H2 in a way that I can roll back to if 20H2 does not work? I suppose I could image the and keep rolling updates until I get to 20H2, and then if it still does not work correctly, simply replace the drive with my image, right?

We can’t exactly say if the display issue got fixed in between – every month patches fix a ton of bugs. What you can do is, update offline aka from ISO file, so that Internet doesn’t override drivers as soon as you reach the desktop. And is there a way to update direct from to 20H2 Absolutely, see below. If you want to try offline, download the ISO file first from the tool. Both allow a rollback to the previous release. The fastest way to get the upgrade is through the Media creation tool or ISO file.
